The DW-85D is a dual-frequency replacement transmitter compatible with the Ditch Witch 8500 TK locating system and the entire SubSite 850 series, including the 850BGHD. It combines two operating frequencies in a single body — switching between them by simply changing the battery installation direction.
At 1.75 kHz, the sonde is optimised for shallow bores up to 4 meters in soils with high electrical conductivity. At 11.2 kHz, it achieves a working depth of up to 18 meters for standard HDD applications. Both modes maintain the same ±0.1% inclination accuracy.
How to select frequency:
- — Insert batteries from the top → 1.75 kHz
- — Insert batteries from the bottom → 11.2 kHz
The selected frequency is confirmed after 5 seconds. Wait 60 seconds after removing the batteries before switching frequency — the sonde continues to operate for 40–50 seconds after battery removal.
