The RN-RDDi SwP is a dual-frequency switchable-power replacement transmitter compatible with Radiodetection RD-385L, DrillTrack and iTrack HDD locating systems. It combines frequency switching and a high-power depth mode in a single body, making it the most versatile sonde in the RN-RDDi series.
Standard mode: depth up to 12 m, battery life 55 hours. High-power mode: depth increases to 16 m, battery life 20 hours. The mode resets to standard after each battery replacement.
How to select frequency:
- — Insert batteries with the head down (battery compartment up) → 8 kHz
- — Insert batteries with the head up (battery compartment down) → 33 kHz
The selected frequency is confirmed 5 seconds after installation. Wait 60 seconds after removing batteries before switching frequency — the sonde continues operating for 40–50 seconds after battery removal.
How to activate high-power mode:
- Hold the active sonde upside down for 7 seconds
- Lower it right-side up for 7 seconds
- Raise it upside down again for 7 seconds
After switching, verify the increased signal level on the locator, then perform the standard calibration procedure. After replacing batteries, the sonde returns to standard power — repeat the sequence to re-activate. No recalibration needed.
